Hardyal I stated that i would notify her parents. 1)As a doctor in a mental health services I would notify her parents because the young girl is still a minor and i am obligated to notify her parents. The reason being it would be better if her parents knew because they would be able to give her the parential support she need in dealing with the problem. 2)After the group discussion i change my opinion to not notifying her parents because maybe she may cope better without her parents knowing if that is her wishes. We have to respect the victim here.Even thou she is a 15 year old college girl maybe she does not want to publize it too much because it will do her much more harmful if people hear about it.She should be treated properly by the doctor to avoid dieases and counseled properly to ensure that she is infact recouraging from the issue. She should also have the option of putting her rapist in jail for the crime he committed against her.Another factor could be that the rapist was her boyfriend and he forces himself on to her.Remember the rape was acquaintance rape so i am just throwing out a reason as to why she is not to keen of broadcasting the rape to her parents and the public. However if it was another circumstance like say robbery and she was forced at gunpoint then she should certainly notify her parents.Of course the purpose of this excercise was to do through problem solving solution as pertaining to the topic. They were some of the reason i took in deciding whether it would be ethic or not to notify her parents. In the end the real victim is the younglady and i would be happy as long as she get the proper help to cope with this tragic thing that has happen to her. From an ethical point of view she is a minor and thus her parents should be notified because she is not over 18 years and her parents still takes care of her but emotional from the victim point of view she maybe comfortable dealing with just the doctor. The bottom line is that there is no right and wrong answer here as long as she gets help and put the culprit in jail for his vicious action prepetrated against her.Hardyal
